PARKOUR SKILL BANDS
Train. Progress. Test your skills. Earn your next band.
Olympus uses a 5-level Parkour skill-band system to help athletes track their progress, recognize the skills they have achieved, and give them new goals to work toward.
Skill bands apply to Parkour only. Ninja training uses its own obstacle progressions and does not require Parkour bands.
HOW THE SKILL-BAND SYSTEM WORKS
TRAIN → LEARN THE SKILLS → TEST → EARN YOUR BAND → KEEP PROGRESSING
Athletes work through the Olympus Parkour curriculum at their own pace. As skills become consistent, coaches help athletes prepare for the next Level Up test.
When an athlete is ready, they can attempt the skills required for their next level. Successfully completing the assessment earns their next Olympus Parkour skill band.
Bands are achievement markers — not class names.
BANDS VS. CLASS PLACEMENT
Your skill band shows what you have achieved. Your class determines where you train.
Parkour Foundations
For new athletes, unbanded athletes, Level 1 athletes, and anyone still developing their foundational Parkour skills.
Parkour Intermediate
For athletes with a Level 2+ band OR coach approval.
A Level 2+ athlete can register directly for Intermediate without needing additional permission. Athletes without a Level 2 band may also be placed into Intermediate when a coach determines they have the experience and ability for that training environment.
Ninja classes do not use Parkour bands.
THE OLYMPUS PARKOUR LEVELS
LEVEL 1 — FOUNDATIONS
The starting point of the Olympus Parkour curriculum.
Level 1 focuses on the fundamental movements and safety skills that everything else is built on. Athletes learn to move with control, develop good habits and build the confidence needed to progress into more challenging Parkour training.
Goal: Build a strong and safe movement foundation.
LEVEL 2 — TECHNIQUE & POWER
Level 2 builds on the fundamentals with more demanding skills and a greater emphasis on technique, power, control and consistency.
Skills at this level generally require more practice and precision than Level 1.
Athletes who earn their Level 2 band are eligible to register for Parkour Intermediate.
Goal: Turn basic movement skills into stronger, more consistent Parkour technique.
LEVEL 3 — APPLICATION & COMBINATIONS
Level 3 introduces more advanced applications of previously learned skills.
Athletes begin combining movements, adapting techniques to different obstacles and practicing in environments that more closely resemble real Parkour, outdoor movement and competition-style challenges.
Goal: Learn to connect skills and adapt movement to more complex situations.
LEVEL 4 — ADVANCED PARKOUR
Level 4 focuses on refinement.
Athletes work toward performing the core Olympus curriculum with a high level of consistency, control and technical quality while gaining more freedom to develop their own movement style and pursue skills beyond the standard curriculum.
Goal: Develop advanced proficiency, consistency and individual movement style.
LEVEL 5 — MASTER CHALLENGES
Level 5 goes beyond the core curriculum.
Rather than simply learning another list of techniques, athletes take on advanced challenges throughout the gym designed to test physical ability, adaptability, commitment and the ability to manage fear.
Level 5 represents the highest level of the Olympus Parkour skill-band system.
Goal: Put everything together and demonstrate mastery in challenging environments.
READY TO LEVEL UP?
Think you're ready for your next band?
Level Up tests give athletes the opportunity to demonstrate the skills required for their next Parkour level.
You do not need to wait for a coach to tell you to test, although we recommend asking your coach if you're unsure whether you're ready.
Passing a Level Up test earns your next Olympus Parkour skill band and unlocks the next stage of the curriculum.
Not quite there yet? That's completely fine. The test shows you which skills are ready and what still needs work before your next attempt.
LEVEL UP TESTS WILL SHOW HERE ONCE ANNOUNCED AND SCHEDULED.
QUICK QUESTIONS
Do I need a Parkour band to join Olympus?
No. New athletes can begin in Parkour Foundations, Ninja, Junior Parkour + Ninja or Teen Parkour + Ninja without a band.
Do Parkour bands apply to Ninja?
No. Parkour skill bands track Parkour curriculum progress only. Ninja classes are mixed ability and do not require a band.
Do I need a Level 2 band for Parkour Intermediate?
A Level 2+ band allows you to register directly for Intermediate. Athletes without a Level 2 band may also join with coach approval.
Does earning a new band automatically mean I need to change classes?
No. Bands track skill progression. Athletes can continue training in the environment that best fits their age, experience and development.
What happens if I don't pass my Level Up test?
Keep training. A test is an opportunity to see which skills are ready and which ones still need work. Once you're ready, you can try again.
